What Does ISIS Want?

In these several intervening weeks a coalition of forces has emerged, led by the U.S., and on September 22nd air attacks were launched against the ISIL capital Raqqa inside Syria in an attempt to contain and neutralize ISIS (ISIL). Air strikes were also conducted in Syria against an offshoot of Al Qaeda – Khorasan.  We are reminded of the ancient Islamic prophecy – “armies carrying black flags will come from Khorasan. No power will be able to stop them, and they will finally reach Eela [the Temple Mount in Jerusalem] where they will erect their flags…. The last hour would not come unless the Muslims will fight against the Jews and the Muslims will kill them.”
In all of this, I want to sound the note again, that even if this one ISIL head of the Islamic hydra is cut off, two more heads will grow up in its place.  Radical Islam is a clear and present danger to the entire world, and like the Hydra of Greek mythology it is “a many-headed serpent… a diverse evil not to be overcome by a single effort.”
An insightful look into ISIL by a pastor and friend for many years, Jim Croft, has given us a good understanding of ISIL. The following excerpts are taken from his article, Tricky PC Semantics available at https://www.facebook.com/jim.croft.31/posts/701567619928848

ISIL stands for the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. What is the Levant? At minimum, it is the land mass on the eastside of the Mediterranean stretching from the northern edge of Saudi Arabia and north and east through Israel, Lebanon, Jordan, and Syria up to Iraq. However, historically it also includes Egypt, Cyprus, Turkey and Iraq.

Islam lays claim to the entire region as they took it by Jihad from Christians during the period from approximately 700-1,100AD. The general Islamic mindset is: once Islamic, always Islamic. To the fundamentalist Muslims, it is unthinkable that the entire Levant region can ever be permanently relinquished from Islamic control.

This is why Israel must be eradicated as a nation. It is why the Christian Arabs dwelling in Israel, Lebanon, Syria and Iraq have been systematically persecuted with the goal of making them flee these nations for their lives. We can be sure that if the ISIL has its way that the Christians of Egypt, Cyprus and Turkey will be coerced to follow close on their heels. Historically, Islam does not sense any obligation to think in the limitations of national boundaries. Its term is Caliphates. What is a Caliphate? It is governance totally by Islam’s Shariah Law over a nation and/or large regions of the earth of which the Levant is an example. What does it take to define a Caliphate? A standing army that has the manpower, armaments, funding, and the determination to wipeout all who are unwilling to submit to Islam’s Shariah Law.

The ISIL has the manpower as its army has grown from 6,000 to over 31,500 in a matter of weeks. Its funding at this moment is over $3 million per day. Its will to overcome all obstacles with no qualms about brutality is without question. If free nations with Christian roots truly want to defeat the ISIL our leaders need to declare war on ISIL’s attempt to establish a huge Caliphate in the Levant.

Dating back to the demise of the Ottoman Empire, the plan is that Turkey will be the seat of government for the Levant Caliphate. It will be the springboard to spread the Caliphate’s tentacles throughout Europe, Scandinavia, and the UK; and across the Atlantic into North and South America. If you think that it could not happen, think again! The Levant nations that were once Christian have been for the most part under Radical Islamic for a very long time. Once the foothold was realized, nothing has proved powerful enough to shake it loose in the past 500 years.

 THE HORRORS OF RADICAL ISLAM

 Shira Harrington, a former member of Immanuel’s, forwarded this cry for help as she recently returned
from Israel —

A friend just got a text message from her brother asking her to shower him and his parish in prayer. He is part of a mission and ISIS has taken over the town they are in today. He said ISIS is systematically going house to house to all the Christians and asking the children to denounce Jesus. He said so far not one child has. And so far all have consequently been killed. But not the parents. The UN has withdrawn and the missionaries are on their own. They are determined to stick it out for the sake of these families – even if it means their own deaths. He is very afraid and has no idea how to even begin ministering to these families who have seen their children martyred. Yet he says he knows God has called him for some reason to be His voice and hands at this place at this time. Even so, he is begging prayers for courage to live out his vocation in such dire circumstances, and like the children, accept martyrdom if he is called to do so. Please pray for them.

THERE ARE MUSLIMS AND THERE ARE MUSLIMS

Muhammad outlined in the Quran the very strategies we are seeing implemented in Iraq and Syria by ISIL. These are his words —

 “The penalty of those who wage war against Allah and His Apostle – they will face being killed or crucified, or having their heads and feet cut off from opposite sides, or they shall be banished from the land…” (Surah 5:33). “And when you meet those who misbelieve, non-Muslims, while fighting in Jihad, cut off their heads until you have massacred them…” (Surah 47:4).  “I will put terror in the hearts of non-Muslims. So cut off their necks and cut off every finger tip. Do that because they opposed Allah and His Apostle.  And Allah is intent on punishing anyone who opposes Him and His Apostle.” (Surah 8:12-14).

Not all present day Muslims, however, are aligned with these brutal ISIL strategies.  I recently heard King Abdullah of Jordan disavow these very practices declaring that ISIL by their actions were “heretics”. I also recently heard a progressive Imam from the U.S. disavow these ISIL practices as draconian and that modern day Islam needs to come out of its dark ages into present day moderation.  Also, we need to note that multiplied millions of Muslims have also come to the knowledge of Jesus and received Him as their very own Savior and Lord.  Consequently, we need to pray in faith for Muslims everywhere, that there will continue to be a rich harvest for the Kingdom of God from among them!

Boko Haram Killed 1,000 Christians In One Day?

Nigeria: Muslim terrorists kill 1,000 Christians in one day

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rl4IgD--nKg
Video purports to show massacre of Nigerian troops and civilians in Gwoza, a town in northeastern Nigeria. It is there that as many as 1000 Christians were killed: a modern record.

BY MARTIN BARILLAS

Tens of thousands of Christians are fleeing northeastern Nigeria, following killings and the burning and destruction of several churches by the Boko Haram Muslim sect. According to Fr . Patrick Tor Alumuku, Social Communications officer in the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja, “I spoke to priests in Maiduguri (Ed. note: the capital of BornoState in northeastern Nigeria where Boko Haram is most active) who speak of terrifying happenings.”  According to the priest,  “Boko Haram is determined to eliminate every sign of Christian presence and many churches have been destroyed or torched. Last week in a village in the area of Maiduguri, Boko Haram took over the parish for its local headquarters.”

Catholic Bishop Oliver Dashe Doeme of Maiduguri, “in areas where Boko Haram is active Christians are fleeing by the thousands. ” He reported that at least 90,000 Catholics are now displaced by the Islamist rebels who are challenging the sovereignty of the Nigerian government.

According to the Fides news service, Father Patrick said, “However, among the crowds of Christians in flight there are also Muslims.” He added, “Some are chiefs of villages and towns, others are Muslim religious leaders (emirs) who cannot identify with what is being committed by Boko Haram.”

“Unfortunately a good number of these displaced persons cannot escape from the combat areas and getting humanitarian aid to them is very difficult. Only people outside these areas can reached by assistance” the Father Patrick continued. “If a city likeMaiduguri with a population of more than one million were to be attacked by the BokoHaram offensive, the result would be an extremely serious humanitarian disaster.”

When contacted by Spero News, Nigerian-American attorney and human rights activist Emmanuel Ogebe spoke of the horrors being faced by Nigerian Christians at the hands of Boko Haram, which has been linked to the Al-Qaeda terrorist group. Said Ogebe, “Our local partners say a couple more towns fell to the terrorists over the weekend, including a predominantly Christian safe haven where we normally stay during trips to the violent northeast.”

Ogebe is special counsel to the Justice for Jos Project and the Jubilee Campaign, both of which have spoken forcefully about the predations made by Muslim Nigerians against Christians. In June 2014, Ogebe testified before Congress about the inroads Boko Haram has made in Nigerian territories where Muslims and Christians had previously lived in relative peace.

Speaking to the Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health, Global Human Rights, and International Organizations of the House of Representatives, Ogebe said in June 2014 “It took the US twenty-five months after the first two Americans were attacked and one year after the third and fourth Americans were targeted before Boko Haram was designated a Foreign Terrorist Organization.” He went on to note that the United Kingdom and the European Union were similarly tardy in recognizing the threat posed by Boko Haram when the group was finally designated a terrorist organization.  Ogebe criticized the Nigerian government for its lack of responsiveness to the terrorist threat, especially in light of the abduction and rape of over 300 girls from a school in Chibok in June 2014.

Ogebe described in an email to Spero News more recent horrors being visited upon Christians in Nigeria. He wrote, “Our local partner's female cousin is amongst those killed by Boko Haramindicating that they are killing Christian women too which is different from the takeover of Gwoza. InGwoza, they beheaded Christian men and married off their wives when they declared an Islamic caliphate two weeks ago. According to Boko Haram's own video, Abubakar Shekau claims he killed 1,000 Christians on that day. This has not been reported in the media as far as we can tell but is contained in his YouTube statement. We are investigating this but since he controls the town it is impossible to tell. If true this is the worst single day massacre of Christians anywhere in contemporary history.”

The video in question was released by Boko Haram on August 24 and can be seen on YouTube.Shekau is seen on the video boasting of Boko Haram's victories and slaughter, while calling on Nigerians to accept Islam. According to SaharaTV, Boko Haram released the video in order to celebrate the seizing of the town of Gwoza, which the group has declared is the capital of a new Islamic caliphate in Nigeria.  is its new headquarters for a new Islamic caliphate in Nigeria. The video also showed examples of the weapons captured from Nigerian security forces. In addition, the video showed Nigerian troops abandoning their positions as civilians fled for their lives. In a statement, the media source declared "SaharaReporters could not show that last 10 minutes of the video because it contains gruesome images committed by Boko Haram militants against innocent civilians in Gwoza.'

Earlier this year, a female suicide bomber detonated an explosive device, killing herself and four worshippers outright at a Catholic parish church. The attacker is described as a girl of approximately 18 years in age. According to one report, it was on July 27 when she was asked by soldiers guarding the church why she was wearing traditional Muslim attire that covered her from head to foot that she unleashed the deadly blast. At least 70 persons were injured on the scene, while three of the wounded subsequently died in hospital.

In early June,  Catholic Archbishop Alfred Adewale Martins of Lagos wrote a pastoral statement in which he said that Boko Haram’s tactics are ever more worrisome because the insurgents are seeking to “conquer” territories and force Nigeria’s military to respond. Entitled "Take to heart", Archbishop Martin’s statement said "it is most disheartening to see women and children blowing themselves up in the guise of fighting a religious war."

ISIS: Vision 2019

By 2019, this is how ISIS expects the world to look like.

Can you identify Nigeria in the map above?

There is still time to repent.

It is time to wake up.

BEWARE: Abuja Declaration Has Been Edited

Apparently, as a result of the growing awareness amongst Christians of the evil planned by the Muslims against the Church, the Muslims went online to edit and distort the information on the Abuja Declaration of 1989. The information on Wikipedia was edited on Monday 21st July, 2014 by one Greg Abdul. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abuja_Declaration_(1989)

Their battle plan below, detailing the plot behind the current Boko Haram insurgency and other forms of political manipulations by the Muslims in the country, was completely removed!

Below is what the Muslims planned to do in Nigeria and in the other members nations of the IAO during their conspiracy conference in Abuja in 1989.

THE REAL BATTLE PLAN:

          "To ensure only Muslims are elected to all political posts of member nations".

"To eradicate in all its forms and ramifications all non-Muslim religions in member nations (such religions shall include Christianity, Ahmadiyya and other tribal modes of worship unacceptable to Muslim)." (the word Christianity is underlined in the declaration)

"To ensure the ultimate replacement of all western forms of legal and judicial systems with the sharia in all member nations before then next "Islam in Africa conference."

"To ensure the appointment of only Muslims into strategic national and international posts of member nations"

Do not be deceived, they have not changed their agenda.

The Military President as of 1989 donated US $21 billion to facilitate the conspiracy. It was acknowledged in the communique as follows:

The Joint Conference finally ratified the admission of Nigeria as a full member of the Organization of the Islamic Conference OIC, and thanked the government and people of Nigeria for having generously donated US $21 billion to the Islamic Development Fund of the OIC, and sincerely requested the Federal Government of Nigeria to implement all policies and programmes of the OIC to show the whole world that Nigeria is truly an Islamic nation.

Abuja Declaration (1989)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Abuja Declarion is the outcome of a conference of the African countries of the OIC in 1989 and launched by a communiqué of the Islam in Africa Organisation (IAO) founded during this conference.

The Islam in Africa Organisation (IAO) is a Nigerian statuted Islamic organisation, an initiative of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC).

Dr. Usman Muhamad Bugaje is the current Secretary-General of the IAO.

Goals and strategies

The organization was founded on 28 November 1989 in Abuja,[1] Nigeria, with the goal to win the whole of Africa for Islam. The statutes and goals[2][3] are ratified in 1991 and this marks her formal definitive founding. The founding-communiqué is also called the Abuja Declaration.[4] Starting point for the conference is the fact that Africa is the only continent with an Islamic majority and therefore Africa should become completely Islamic.[5]

The plan contains a lot of points that are also common for Christian missionary organizations as relief and economic progression.

A battle plan was composed to Islamize Africa with some less innocent points in that decision:[6]

  •         "To ensure only Muslims are elected to all political posts of member nations".
  •         "To eradicate in all its forms and ramifications all non-Muslim religions in member nations (such religions shall include Christianity, Ahmadiyya and other tribal modes of worship unacceptable to Muslim)." (The word Christianity is underlined in the declaration)
  •         "To ensure the ultimate replacement of all western forms of legal and judicial systems with the Sharia in all member nations before then next "Islam in Africa conference."
  •         "To ensure the appointment of only Muslims into strategic national and international posts of member nations."

The execution of this strategy can be recognized in countries like Nigeria, Ethiopia and Sudan. In Nigeria more and more provinces choose for the Sharia leading to heavy protests of Christians, oft resulting in violence and bloodshed to both sides. In Sudan the government chose in 1983 for the Sharia, in 1991 sharpened with death punishment for apostasy from Islam.

Funds: The government of Nigeria has donated 21 billion US-dollar to confirm an IAO-communiqué [7] as donation to this "Islamic Development Fund".

Organisation

The IAO consists of four main organisations:[8] the General Shura', the highest authority consisting of 43 members from all over Africa and theDiaspora. the Executive Comité.

Ethnic Cleansing in North East

Guardian Newspaper 11th June, 2014, Page 7

Boko Haram-led pogroms, ethnic cleansing and medieval bestiality in Nigeria’s North East

A statement by some concerned leaders of ethnic nationalities of Borno South Senatorial District

AGAINST the background of denials by high-ranking functionaries of the Muslim establishment in Nigeria that the Boko Haram insurgency is not a Muslim agenda, we owe it to ourselves and the world to set the record straight. In 2012, in a widely publicized video recording that is easily accessible on the internet, Abubakar Shekau, the late erstwhile leader of Boko Haram announced the mission statement of his sect. Among other things, he said “this war is not political. It is religious. It is between Muslims and unbelievers (arna). It will stop when Islamic religion is the determinant in governance in Nigeria or, in the alternative, when all fighters are annihilated and no one is left to continue the fight. I warn all Muslims at this juncture that any Muslim who assists an unbeliever in this war should consider himself dead.”

This mission statement explains why Muslim communities have been viciously attacked for having within them persons who served as informants to the authorities. While we appreciate the concern of well-meaning persons in Nigeria   and world-wide over the fate of more than three hundred female students abducted from Government Secondary School in Chibok, Borno State, by the Boko Haram sect we want to draw the attention of the world to the fact that the abduction saga has become a distraction that has left our communities to free-pillaging and rampaging by Boko Haram.

These are the facts that happened in the past four weeks:

In Ataggara, Southern Senatorial Zone of Borno State, Boko Haram attacked and were repelled by the community. Community leaders went to Pulka, where a military formation exists, to report the attack and were assured that a unit would be drafted to the town to protect the people. The following day some people appeared in Nigeria Army issue in nine armoured personnel carriers bearing the colours and insignia of the Nigerian Army. They announced to the villagers that they had come to assess the security situation. When the people gathered to hear them, the men that came in armoured personnel carriers, and in Army uniform, opened fire and killed over two hundred and fifty men, women and children. Those who were able to take to their heels were pursued by the marauders into the bush and when they were caught up with, were either butchered with knives or shot to death. The survivors have taken refuge in Cameroun, or in friendly communities;

In Bokko Wizhe, four people died when Boko Haram terrorists opened fire indiscriminately in the predominantly Christian community. About two thousand survivors have fled to Cameroun and neighbouring states;

In Bokko Timta, about 1,500 Christians had to flee to Cameroun and other states in Nigeria after Boko Haram attacked their community;

In Kugyly, about 2,500 fled the village to Cameroun and other states in Nigeria after they were visited by Boko Haram;

In Ngoshe, 46 persons were killed by Boko Haram and more than 3,000 had to flee to Cameroun and other states in Nigeria. None of the houses and churches in the community escaped being torched;

In Gava, 26 persons were killed by Boko Haram. About 2,000 people fled to Cameroun and other states in Nigeria. All the houses and churches were burnt down;

In Amuda, 17 persons were murdered by Boko Haram and more than four thousand people fled to other places. The Village Head is, at present taking refuge in Nasarawa State;

In Halaghwa after an undetermined number of persons were killed by Boko Haram, about 500 persons from the community fled to Cameroun and another 2,000 fled to other states in Nigeria;

In Agapalawa, 15 persons were killed by Boko Haram and more than 4,000 had to flee to Cameroun;

 In Ganjara, 46 persons were killed by Boko Haram and more than 2,500 fled to Cameroun;

 In Jibrili, an undetermined number of people were killed by Boko Haram and Christian houses and churches burnt to the ground. The remnant of the people have fled to Cameroun;

 In Zamgba, Boko Haram attacked and killed 13 people, and about 1,700 were forced to flee to Cameroun;

 In Ashigashita, Boko Haram attacked and killed 10 people. The remnant of the community fled to Cameroun;

 In Vale, Christians were completely chased out. Their belongings were looted by Boko Haram and their sympathizers;

 In Kwadale, an undetermined number of persons were killed by Boko Haram and about 2,000 fled to Cameroun;

 In Pulka, 30 persons were killed by Boko Haram, including the Village Head Mallam Ali Pulka. Many members of the community have fled to Cameroun leaving about 4,500;

 In Kirawa, all the Christians fled to Cameroun after the village was taken over by Boko Haram;

 In Chinene, Boko Haram killed 14 persons, more than 500 fled to Cameroun, about 1,000 fled to other states in Nigeria, while about 1,000 are still in the mountains as all motorable roads have been blocked by the sect;

 In Arboko, more than 10 persons were killed by Boko Haram, all houses and churches razed to the ground, and about 2,000 have fled to Cameroun;

 In Chikide, 2 persons were killed by Boko Haram, and about 1,500 have fled to Cameroun and other states in Nigeria;

 In Barawa, more than 20 persons were killed by Boko Haram, and the community’s houses and churches burnt down. Survivors have fled to Cameroun, other states and the hills;

 In Pege, Boko Haram killed five persons by Boko Haram, and about 1,000 members of the community have fled to Cameroun and other states in Nigeria;

 In Kaghum, Boko Haram killed more than 20 persons by Boko Haram, and more than 3,000 members of the community have been forced to flee to Cameroun, other states in Nigeria and the hills;

 In Angurva, an undetermined number of persons were killed by Boko Haram, and some 4,000 persons have fled to Cameroun;

 In Baladigavuraza, Boko Haram killed 3 persons, about 2,000 persons fled to Cameroun and another 500 fled to other states in Nigeria;

 In Kunde, some 7 persons were killed and the community’s houses and churches burnt. About 2,500 fled to Cameroun and the hills;

 In the past fourteen days the following communities in Damboa Local Government area have been over-run by Boko Haram: Kwapchi; Shawa; Daku; Kwamjilari; Blakat 1; Blakat 2; Blakat 3; Mulgwe 1; Mulgwe 2; Mulgwe 3; Katsalabulari; Kulali 1; Kulali 2; Kuburuvhu; Kautivha; Izghe 1; Izghe 2; Izghe 3; Kaya 1; Kaya 2; Konchi;

 Mbulakuduga (Alagamo) in Askira Uba Local Government Area was over-run within the same time frame;

 Takulashi of Chibok Local Government Area was also over-run in the past few days.

In all the communities it has over-run, Boko Haram has removed the Nigerian national flag and hoisted its own flag, the flag of jihad.

We want to place on record that all the communities mentioned above are predominantly Christian. Why are we being attacked now? The answer lies in the result of the 2011 Presidential Election. It is on record that the Middle Belt, which the Southern Borno State Senatorial Zone is a bona fide  part of, voted massively for President Goodluck Jonathan; a fact that enabled the sitting President to succeed at the polls in 2011. Going towards 2015, Boko Haram, on behalf of the oligarchic North, wants to decimate and displace our communities so that we would be less of a factor. Why is President Jonathan not instructing the military ro protect our communities? We are aware that the the Nigerian military is a deeply divided fighting force.

As the Ataggara case above illustrates, when some Muslim commanding officers and others receive reports from our communities, they pass such reports to Boko Haram who come in Nigerian Army issue uniforms to perpetrate pogroms in our communities.

Boko Haram has many atrociously wealthy sponsors on account of the fact that successive governments in Nigeria have always patronized Muslims to our exclusion. It is primitive capital that those Muslims have accumulated from the Nigerian state that they are deploying to decimate our populations. Our most profound prayer to President Jonathan, which we want other Nigerians and the international community to pressurize him to accede to, is that he should arm our communities. if we have access to arms and ammunition like Boko Haram, we would have a sporting chance of defending our lives, dependants and property. We would not run away from Boko Haram. Our President should please do this in good time before it is too late. We have a right to live in peace in our communities and to vote our choice without any fear, however we choose to do so in electoral contests in our country. That is an irreducible minimum for every citizen.

As communities in the defunct Northern Region we are not unaware of the inspiration of Boko Haram and their sponsors. It is no news that the average Northern Muslim thinks that Nigeria is his to dominate, and its riches his to dispense. In October 1960, the late Premier of the defunct Northern Region and Sardauna of Sokoto, Sir Ahmadu Bello, had declared:

“The new nation called Nigeria should be an estate of our great-grandfather, Uthman Dan Fodio. We must ruthlessly prevent a change of power. We use the minorities of the North as willing tools and the South as a conquered territory and never allow them to rule over us, and never allow them to have control over their future.” (Parrot Newspaper, 12th Oct. 1960; republished on November 13, 2002, by the Tribune Newspaper, Ibadan.);

Before the late Sardauna made this very revealing statement, the Conference of Northern Chiefs, in response to a letter from the UK-based West African Students’ Union (WASU) to the Northern emirs asking them to support the constitutional evolution of Nigeria into an independent nation, had declared “holding this country together is not possible except by means of the religion of the Prophet. If they want political unity let them follow our religion.” (Obafemi Awolowo, Path to Nigerian Freedom, London: Faber and Faber, 1947, p.51.);

We recall that the Fulani Jihad failed woefully to Islamize our people in the 19th Century. We also recall that the Kanuri, who had been practising Islam for more than eight centuries before the Fulani Jihad, could not Islamize our people. Boko Haram seeks to succeed where their more illustrious ancestors failed.

If the Federal Government of Nigeria would not arm our communities to defend ourselves, the least it can do is not to stand in the way of other Nigerians and members of the international community who are so inclined to help arm our communities. Boko Haram, as its mission statement as espoused by the late Abubakar Shekau states, the only time it would be mollified is “….when Islamic religion is the determinant in governance in Nigeria or, in the alternative, when all fighters are annihilated and no one is left to continue the fight.”

Our people refuse to be forcibly Islamized. We, also, insist on making our own free choices. It is our belief that it is only on the basis of mutual respect that nations can be built. We would like to contribute our quota to building the Nigerian Federation into a nation and call on others to follow our peaceful path. But if the forces of evil insist on pursuing their present murderous course, our people will be forced to respond in kind and to meet force with force. The present path of violence by Boko Haram can only lead to destruction, Boko Haram’s destruction as well as others.

We thank you for giving us an ear.

SULTAN OF SOKOTO: Military Persecuting Muslims

Military Persecuting Nigerian Muslims, Says Sultan Of Sokoto’s Group

Posted: Apr, 08 2014, 1:04PM
Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Muhammad Abubakar III,
By SaharaReporters, New York

Nigerian Muslims under the leadership of Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Muhammad Abubakar III, have accused the country’s military of persecuting Muslims and carrying out indiscriminate killings without adhering to rules of engagement.

The allegation was contained in a statement distributed by the Islamic body, Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI). The Sultan of Sokoto chairs the body. The JNI demanded that the Federal Government and others concerned must urgently address the issue, adding that the mistreatment of Muslims was getting out of hand.

In a statement signed titled ‘MILITARY OPERATION AND THE PERSECUTION OF INNOCENT MUSLIMS; THE KILLING OF 15 MUSLIMS IN KEANA AND THE MASSACRE IN ZAMFARA STATE’ and signed by the group’s scribe, Khalid Abubakar Aliyu, the JNI stated:

“The dimension of extra judicial killing of Muslims by the military on a mere whim of unsubstantiated suspicion leaves much to be desired, which clearly depicts that Muslims have become endangered species, murdered and maimed indiscriminately in the guise of fighting terrorism. The sad incident of Keana 15 is another scenario where the settlements of innocent Muslims were mercilessly massacred. These are people who have been exonerated by the State Governor as being peace loving people and law abiding. It is questionable that an operation of this magnitude would be carried-out without the knowledge of the Chief Security Officer of the State, nor other relevant security bodies. JNI is concerned that the perpetrators of these genocidal acts against Muslims may go scot-free as it was the case with Apo Killings and other similar heinous acts.

The Benue state governor and his deputy have recently exonerated the Fulani of Benue for the long outstanding relationship and social cohesion between them. The social joke between them lives for almost a century. How can all this suddenly change and the next neighbor is accused because of his simplicity and unsophistication?

“The various reports of human rights abuses and massacre of hundreds of Muslims in Maiduguri by the military, as reported by human rights groups, [are] painful and unacceptable. [There are] criminals on [the] one hand and the supposed protectors of the innocent on the other, in front is a lion and behind are wolves.

“We have found the usage of the term Fulani herdsmen, hiding their religious identity, an attempt to wipe out Muslims in the guise of fighting terrorism, as it suits the situation, and using Muslim terrorist as it suits the other situation as absurd. Why is it when a Christian commits a crime it is not called a Christian crime or terrorism? The fact remains, [a] crime is [a] crime[:]  it is colorless, tribeless and religiousless.

“It is sad to note that a Muslim milk maid, a mother of five, was raped and killed by a military man around Dei-Dei area of the Federal Capital Territory. We are not aware of any step taken by the military authority on the matter. As usual they will buy time and the case will die naturally.

“We can say without any fear of contradiction that there is a grand agenda to destabilize the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria. If any Nigerian is in doubt regarding the hidden grand agenda to destabilize Muslims in Nigeria, and cautiously reduce their rising human capital, then the Zamfara State incidence should have removed this doubt. An event where vigilante personnel working to restore peace would be the subject of a grand massacre, tells much about the chaos and insecurity some enemies want to push our states into. We call on all our Governors, politicians and indeed every well-meaning citizen to do something before it gets out of hand.

“Where is the human rights compliance and rule of engagement by the military personnel involved in maintaining peace and security? Why are the defaulting military personnel not brought to book for [deterrence] and forestalling future occurrence? The military should know that it is extremely dangerous to polarize security agencies along religious line. It will have far reaching negative effect in the country, especially at this material time, where the efforts of all are required to cushion the effect of the pains we are passing through.

“JNI unequivocally condemns the extra judicial killing of 15 Fulani Muslims in Keana, the raping and subsequent killing of Binta Usman, the milk maid and all the human rights abuses on innocent Muslims in Maiduguri. We strongly call for bringing to justice the perpetrators of transgression against innocent citizens who have the right to practice the religion they choose.”

FULANI HERDSMEN ATTACK WUKARI, TARABA STATE

WUKARI LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA (TARABA-NIGERIA) CRISES

1. This is a concise report on the crises captioned above. For some months now, precisely 5 to 6 months, the southern senatorial zone of Taraba State has witnessed sudden and unprecedented influx of Fulani people into this geo political entity. I happen to be one of the religious leaders that complained about the presence of this strange set of Fulani people. They don't move about with wives or children; and unlike the Fulani we knew right from the days of our parents, who carried only their stick and swords, and came in mostly seasonally, this set of Fulani, beside what is stated above, carry sophisticated weapons. In one of the instances where I was cautioning our members over the need to be careful about this people, a Fulani man was caught in the crowd, in that village called Lufu, recording my words.

2. With the growing presence of this people in our area, we started experiencing rise in cases on armed robbery and fracas with the Taraba Tiv people. I remember that at a point, the Governors of Benue and Taraba even set up a reconciliation committee to mediate in a crisis that came up between the Tiv and the Kuteb, and the Fulani. As usual, nothing has happened substantially in respect of the committee.

3. Beginning from January this year, relationship between the Fulani and the Tiv in both Taraba and Benue became more sour as the Fulani increased their attacks on the Tiv, with terrible tolls in terms of human casualties and property. This led to an unprecedented mass exodus of the Tiv from Taraba State. As they fled their homes and farm products, the Fulani have maliciously guided their cattle into their farms, destroying their cassava and yam seedlings, and threatening other local people who try to question them.

4. Now that the Tiv have fled, leaving their immediate neighbors, the Jukun, who are mostly Christians, the Fulani started confirming a rumor we heard before: that they were planning to send the Tiv (who are over 99% Christians) away to prepare the ground for a religious war against all other non-Muslims in the area. They mobilized their fighters from three places - Bantaje, Jibu and Ibi, and began by attacking three Jukun villages (Nayinawa, Tudun Wada and Yamini) burning down everything, including our Churches and the homes of our pastors and evangelists. There, they killed about eleven people, including an evangelist of the Christian Reformed Church of Nigeria (CRCN), which is the Church over which I am since 2012 its President.

The Muslim fighters, made up of Fulani and Hausa, who are predominantly Muslims, entered one Jukun village (Nwokyon) yesterday, in a number suspected to be over 250, armed with sophisticated weapons, and messed the whole place up, killing seven of our youth, and destroying everything there that belongs to our Church and the people generally.

5. As it is now, all our Churches in the following places have been either burned and pulled down completely, or burned:

Nayinawa        Tudun Wada        Yamini        Nwokyon        Bakyu    Jibu (all in Wukari Local Government Area).

In Benue State, for our Church (CRCN), we lost over 22 people killed on a Sunday as our members closed from the Church service and were returning to their homes. From the Tiv (NKST) side, the losses are colossal. The NKST General Secretary, Rev. Peter Azuana (Phone Number  08035006823), can inform you better on their own story.

MY SUMMATIONS:

* What is happening in both the case of southern Taraba and Benue is not a Fulani herdsmen versus farmers' fracas as people are made to believe. Confessions of some of the islamic jihadists (such as "Allahu-akbar"; "Zamu karbe kasar arna" and the like) as they attack do betray the truth of the undertones to this crisis that has been given different and false coloration;

* The battles fought in these said areas are carefully planned terrorist campaigns for the islamization of the Middle Belt as this has been the dream of the Muslims of Nigeria since the days of Uthman dan Fodio;

* Delayed action by the Taraba State Deputy Governor, Mr. Garba Umar, to stop the cunfusion and bloodshed ignited by the  islamic campaigns as is obvious, is part of the effort to take over governance of Taraba State, which is the heart cry of the islamic world. It is clear that of the remaining three States governed by Christians, Muslims have given these three no rest, in their bid to completely control the North and completely eradicate Christianity.

* We are aware that part of the reason for this current onslaught against believers in southern Taraba is to chase away the Tiv who are Christians and deplete the voting strength of believers so as to have a Muslim Governor in a State that is about 75% Christians. We know that Mr. Garba Umar is a sworn enemy of believers in Christ and he has not hidden this. Imagine the number of mosques he has built in the State capital, even in areas that are of Christian population;

* All so called efforts of government to bring peace must be looked at strictly to ensure that justice is delivered to whoever deserves it;

* The Governor of Taraba needs to tell Nigerians in truth all he has done since he came in, to ensure peace, unity and progress of this State. Let him tell Nigerians why he believes that what has not been done for Christians in Borno and other northern States (because they are in the minority) should be done to Muslims in Taraba. President Goodluck Jonathan must be careful to view all that is happening in Taraba as one who is a Christian (genuinely and without any religious discrimination) and read the signs in the sky. God bless Nigeria.

Prof. Itse Sagay Attacks Christians

Christians were shocked to open the Punch newspaper of Sunday 13th April, 2014 to read of Prof. Itse Sagay’s condemnation of the stand of the CAN delegation at the National Conference against the religious imbalance in the 1999 Constitution.

In the news report, the constitutional expert, Prof. Itse Sagay, dismissed arguments made by the representatives of the Christian Association of Nigeria that the 1999 Constitution was skewed in favour of Islam and Muslims, and that it was unfair to Christians and Christianity Nigeria.

As reported by the CAN delegates at the National Conference, the following imbalances are observed in the 1999 Constitution:

Sharia                  73 times

Grand Kadi          54 times

Islam                   28 times

Muslim                10 times

Meanwhile, there is no single mention of Christ, Christian, Christianity, and church in the same Constitution.

The CAN delegates also pointed out that Section 10 of the 1999 Constitution prohibits government from adopting any religion as state religion, while the same Constitution violates itself by making provision for the establishment and funding of Islamic/Sharia legal system without a corresponding provision for Ecclesiastical Court in accordance with the Holy Bible.

CAN therefore wishes to clarify as follows:

1)      In the entire 1999 Constitution (as amended) there is no single provision for Christians to have their spiritual matters adjudicated by persons who are well trained in Ecclesiastical laws and biblical jurisprudence, just like the Muslims have:

2)      Islamic and Customary law adherents are well recognized and accommodated in the Constitution by the establishment of Customary and Islamic Systems in Sections 260, 265, 275 and 280, but no corresponding provision is made for Christians.

3)      Christians only rely on Customary and high Courts which are manned by persons of little or no knowledge of Ecclesiastical law and jurisprudence (or Christian doctrines and practices).

4)      This is a clear violation of section 42 of the 1999 Constitution which prohibits discrimination on account of religion and section 10 which prohibits state religion.

5)      Nigeria is a secular state with multi-religious activities. Faith or religious inclination should be personal and not funded by the State.

6)      If we must retain Customary and Islamic law systems in the Constitution, then provision must also be made for Christian legal system by way of Ecclesiastical Courts.

Additionally, CAN states as follows:

RE: PROFESSOR ITSE SAGAY ON CHRISTIAN DELEGATES’ DEMANDS

The attention of the Christian delegates has been drawn to the comments of the esteemed Professor of Law Itse Sagay, particularly in the Sunday Punch of 13 April, 2014, in respect of some of the issues raised at the ongoing national conference.

For clarity and avoidance of doubts our demands at the conference, amongst others, is that some inconsistencies and discriminatory provisions in the 1999 Constitution be redressed. We did state as follows;

1.       That while Nigeria is a multi-religious State, as per Section 10 of the Constitution, this is inconsistent with the provisions of the same Constitution which provides for the establishment and funding of religious Courts (Sharia Courts) by the State.

2.       Besides the said inconsistencies, the Christian delegates also alluded to the following discriminatory policies and actions of government in favor of Islamic religion.

$1-       Building of places of worship for Muslims out of State resources, while rights of occupancy are denied for building of Churches;

$1-       Funding of religious festivals and practices such as fasting, Koranic competitions and recitations, while Christian congregational activities remain the sole prerogative of Christians.

$1-      Building of exclusive religious Schools such as Almajiri Schools from State resources, while Christian missionary schools are taken over by the government.

We are taken aback by the assertion by the learned professor that; “no religion is more recognized than the other, under the constitution”. How else, does a thing gain recognition when it is not only in vogue but also constitutionally guaranteed?

Perhaps the learned professor was alluding to the position at independence when Islamic law was (rightly and wisely) treated as an aspect of customary law for which provision was made for the appointment of jurists versed in the Sharia to the appellate courts. As a people we have been watching the systematic widening of the application of Islamic Sharia law, since the 1979 Constitution.

It is the belief of the Christian delegation that the fundamental objectives of Unity; Faith; Peace and Progress; and national integration, as enshrined in Section 15(1) & (2) of the 1999 Constitution would be better served by the separation of the State and religion. However, if the conference considers it necessary to maintain the status quo, it is only fair and just that equal treatment be meted to Christians by providing for ecclesiastical courts in the constitution. Contrary to the assertion by the learned professor there are Ecclesiastical Courts in Nigeria under the aegis of the Catholic Church.

SUDAN IS THE SOURCE OF BOKO HARAM

I Was Chased Out Of Sudan When I Raised The Alarm About Boko Haram – Ambassador

Ambassador Bola Dada shares his opinion on ways Nigeria could have stopped Boko Haram insurgency before its actual birth and told that all his warning fell on deaf ears in this recent interview. Excerpts:

Are you saying what was being practiced in Sudan was exported into Nigeria?

When Sudan came under pressure during the US Bill Clinton era, they sent Bin Laden away. Osama Bin Laden had established himself there. In fact, one of his wives was the daughter of the Speaker. So when Sudan was under pressure to send Osama Bin Laden away, he decided to divide his Al-Qaeda army into three; he took the first team to Afghanistan and kept the second team in Sudan; the third group he sent out to be disturbing the whole world, including Magreb which is close to Mali, Chad and Niger. I raised an alarm in 2001 that Al-Qaeda was in Nigeria – that Al-Qaeda had penetrated Nigeria through Chad. You know Chad has a border with Borno State. We have about eight million Nigerians in Sudan: people who settled there after pilgrimage. Many who couldn’t reach Saudi Arabia just settled there. And Al-Bashir (Sudanese president) was a descendant of Borno State. I reported all these, including the fact that Yerima was there at that time but I was ignored. Yerima got back to Nigeria and the following day, he declared Sharia. And from then, they were sending students for Jihadist training. Then when I got wind of the distribution of Osama Bin Laden Al-Qaeda groups, I reported. I told them to check our borders between Mali, Niger, and Chad – that Al-Qaeda was on the move. It got to a stage that it became evident that my report was becoming a concern to our permanent secretary then who incidentally had intelligence security background as a former director of the Nigeria Intelligence Agency. His name is Ambassador Heart. He brought in his NIA background into the Foreign Service. He knew what was sensitive and newsworthy. So he took the case seriously and played his part. But instead of our government sending inspectors were to check the veracity of my reports, they didn’t do that; they would just call the NIA man there who was also a Borno man who would refute anything I said. He would tell them not to mind me because I was a Christian and a religious bigot. In fact, he said Obasanjo deliberately sent me there to spy on the ambassador. That was how they usually dismissed my reports.

What did Obasanjo do when he got wind of your reports?

I wouldn’t know what he did but I guess some of the reports did not get to him. One of such was about a Sudanese consulate in Kano who spent 50 years as a consul-general in Nigeria. That is not allowed, but in the case of Sudan, because of the close relationship with Ahmadu Bello and Muhammadu Ribadu, they allowed Sudan to open a honorary consulate in Kano and instead of putting a Nigerian there, they put a Sudanese. I drew attention to this anomaly and by the time I left the place in December 2001 before I was sent out to Uganda, the Sudanese man was spending his 50th year there as a consul-general in Nigeria. Where does that happen? I knew of it from a Sudanese official himself at one party at the Ghanaian embassy. I sent a report asking why they would allow a consul-general to spend 50 years in Nigeria. Meanwhile, his activities had nothing to do with consular job; it was mainly for Islamic purposes. That is why Sudan is being kept on the US watch list as a terrorist country. And this is a country that our country is romancing.

Do you see a link between the Boko Haram insurgency and what happened then?

There is a lot. As far as I am concerned, Boko Haram is an offshoot of Sharia. Meanwhile, in 2001, I learnt from a Southern Sudanese while I was there that at Khartoum sometime in 1994, some Sudanese officials were lamenting that the then presidents of Nigeria were not radical Muslims; they were lamenting that the golden days of Islam had gone. They were not happy that General Ibrahim Babangida and Muhammadu Buhari did not follow in the footsteps of Ahmadu Bello. So they planned on strategising again. They went to Kano to do that. Whatever the strategy they made that time, there is a link to what is happening now. Meanwhile, Babangida compensated them by dragging Nigeria to the Organisation of Islamic Countries, still they were not satisfied. Also, there was a kind of covenant between Sudan and Libya to destabilise Nigeria to promote Islamisation. So, what is happening to President Goodluck Jonathan now may have something to do with that pact. They call it Afikaya, a doctrine that all African states must be governed by Muslims only. Gaddafi fought for it rigorously before he died – that all African presidents must be Muslims and in any African country where by error a Christian is there, they should make life difficult for that person until he is deposed. I got wind of it in one document. I read it with my eyes that all African countries must be governed by Muslims and any country that is mistakenly being ruled by a Christian, they should make life difficult for him. They said it’s the injunction of the Quran. I read it. Boko Haram insurgency may have stemmed from such injunctions and as a result of the faulty policy of ambassadorial appointment and deployment. According to the Nigerian Constitution, ambassadorial appointment must be 75 per cent career-oriented and 25 per cent political. Ambassadorial jobs should be given to people who have experiences related to such jobs, not just anybody. That’s the constitution which was violated many times. In fact, the greatest violator was Babangida.

How?

He made a level 10 officer an ambassador at that time when we had level 15, 16, 17 officers. How could you make a level 10 or 12 officer an ambassador? It’s wrong. He made Ladan Baki, a level 12 officer an ambassador simply because it was the man that saved his life. Baki was an NIA man who leaked out to Babangida the plan of Buhari to sack him. That’s why he compensated him. Otherwise, Babangida would have been sacked and forgotten today. Another violation is that he appointed a Muslim as an ambassador to the Vatican. How could you make an Alhaji to be an ambassador to the Vatican? He also appointed late Saka Fagbo to Saudi Arabia because the man had terminal ailment and as a Muslim, he believed that once he died in Saudi Arabia, it’s Aljanastraight; and he gave directive that he must be buried in Saudi. Is that the purpose of ambassadorial appointment? So, many of these people go there for something else rather than performing ambassadorial duties. That’s why we have all these problems today.

Did you choose to go to Iran?

I never chose to go there. I don’t know why they deliberately posted me to Iran, after serving in three Arab/Islamic countries. I am a Christian but I was sent to Islamic countries to serve.

Was there any religious affinity between Northern Nigeria and Iran like what you observed with Sudan?

Actually, I did not stay long there. I did not really have the time to find out. But I think there is a bond between Nigeria and Iran too because exactly one year after I made my concern known, that was the time when the security operatives arrested some men smuggling containers of arms into the country from Iran.
What do you think Nigeria can do about the Boko Haram issue?
It has its roots in Sudan and has connections with Libya. So, let’s start to tackle it from the root. I think the government is already doing something about it through the help of France, because most of these countries are Francophone countries. If they would not listen to us, they would listen to France. By the time France talks to countries like Cameroon, something good will come out. Let’s deal with the problem from the root. We need France’s assistance. Our traditional and political rulers should also change their bullish mindsets about Nigeria. Also, no part of the country should think they can bully the other parts or that it’s their right to rule the other parts.

**Contrary to the clueless insinuations of Boko Haram by our clueless leaders when would they wake up???
